Welcome to the Cochran County Office!
Welcome to TAES Cochran County office located in the county seat, of Cochran, called Morton. Morton, TX, is west of Lubbock on Hwy. 214 and in the South Plains Region of the Panhandle. The TAES Cochran County Program (directed by the Texas A&M University System, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the County Commissioners Courts of Texas Cooperating) strives to serve a local county population, of, approximately, 2,730. This, particular, population derives its main income from a mix of agriculture, city-county government, education, medical and other small commercial opportunities. A major point of interest includes the C.C. Slaughter Ranch Headquarters which was, once, part of an extensive headquarters complex of a cattle baron who established a ranching empire. The county's three incorporated cities include Bledsoe, Morton and Whiteface. Two school districts and one alternative campus provide education for the youth of the county.

Mission: Providing quality, relevant outreach and continuing educational programs and services to the people of Cochran County and Texas.

Extension brings the resources of the Texas A&M University System to Cochran County. Through field based faculty, Extension provides unbiased, research-based information, educational programs, and technical assistance in the following core service areas:

  • Agriculture
  • Community & economic development
  • Individual & family capacity
  • Youth development & safety
